How can you resist? It's the classic Jane Austen story, punctuated by encounters with the undead. What's not to love? I have to admit, I was immediately sucked in when I read the full title: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!As I say, how can you resist? I'm giggling myself to sleep at night, reading the adventures of the Bennett girls as they negotiate the zombie-infested waters of 19th century romance. I've never been a big vampire fan. Twilight and its ilk leave me cold. But zombies? Love it! One of my favorite movies ever is Shaun of the Dead.
And speaking of geek chic, how happy am I that Simon Pegg, aka Shaun of the Dead himself, is playing the role of Chief Engineer Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the new Star Trek movie??? I am very happy. My weekend plans are set. Teach class on Saturday morning, perform as featured soloist at the Wakefield Chorus' concert on Saturday night, go see Star Trek on Sunday. Sounds like a good weekend, and I may even get some sewing in!

you know .... I adore, adore, adore Yves Saint Laurent. this book is to die. a month ago that was commissioned in my library. I'm anxious waiting. Enjoy.

I have borrowed the Yves Saint Laurent book from the library. It is gorgeous. They also have one by Christian Lacroix, I think you would love it too.

I'm not into the twilight thing either, but my son did read the book about how to defend against zombie attacks. He also plays online killing zombies on a regular basis and calls it community service by killing zombies for us. ummm thanks...
I found this book in the airport. It's the pefect combination for my marriage: something I like (Jane Austen) with something he likes (Zombies). I called DH, who thought I was making it up. Thanks for the blog post to prove I'm right!

For Mother's day I asked my family to take me to see the Star Trek movie, needless to say no one complained...
I have a date with my DH tomorrow afternoon to go see the new Star Trek movie. We have been anxiously awaiting its arrival. We did a mini-marathon of movies 1-4. Stopped there because I was teaching at night all this week.
I will definately have to check out the YSL book.

!!! Never imagined someone would do that to Jane Austin. I am trying to work out if my mother-in-law would be appalled or delighted if I got it for her (she is a bg JA fan). I will have to buy and read it myself first.

Ooh, I picked up the Austen-Zombies book at our bookstore yesterday and I'm so glad to hear you like it. The cover alone is a hoot!
