What it is: This is a lightweight tracing paper in a soft canary yellow. I bought this when Charette was having their going-out-of-business sale (sniff!). I wanted white tracing paper, which I had bought there on many occasions, but they were already sold out. It turned out to be a happy circumstance. I opened this up today for the first time when I was tracing off the damned Burda pattern.
What did you think of it? Love. It! Seriously. This is much better than the other tracing papers I used. It's about halfway between the weight of standard pattern tissue and the white tracing paper that I always bought. I can see the Burda lines much easier. So on a more sane pattern, this will be a joy. I can't wait to use it on a Jalie or HotPatterns.
Worth it? Yes, definitely.
Where did you get it? As I say, I got my rolls (I buy my tracing paper in 100 yard rolls in different widths) from the late, lamented Charette. But you can get it at most art supply stores.
I'll post a picture of my traced pattern over the damned pattern sheet tomorrow, so you can see why I like it.
Happy sewing!

I use this as well. I bought it from Dick Blick. It is very easy to see through it.
Yeah, this stuff is da bomb! I also bought from Dick Blick's. I think just for the name. And the shipping. I was using exam paper and never realized how hard I was making tracing. Once you've gone Bienfang you'll never go back.
Ann, Thanks for making me laugh about the Burda patterns :) I don't believe I'll be renewing my Burda Plus subscription. I use this tracing papper for all of my patterns. I'd rather had the original in pristine condition and spend the time tracing the patterns & making the adjustments.
Can't wait to see your work.
I use this paper, also, but in white. My source for canary closed!
Me, too! Thanks for reminding me I should probably order another roll of the stuff...
Just curious, why is the canary better than the regular white? I use the rolls, but I usually use the white. But if canary is better, I would definitely switch. Thx.
RE seam allowances see my tip on pattern review tho I think you will prob be able to buy something to do the job now.
Basically my OH took 2 tracing wheels and inorder to get the spacing correct between the 2 tracing discs he took a of piece wood shaped the same as the tracing wheel (handle etc.) & cut to the correct width which spaced the 2 discs at my desired seam alloance(5/8). Then sandwiched it between the two tracing wheels by glueing a wheel either side of the shaped piece of wood. After tracing my Burda pattern(yes with tracing paper easy to find here in the supermarket. I place dressmakers carbon under the tracing paper. Follow the traced curve with one wheel and the outer one marks the seam allownace.I have now had this for a lot of years (20+ now probably).
I agree Burda are infurriating(ops sp?) aren't they? But they know we love alot of their styles.
I made the cami from this issue.Well a muslin last weekend.
(They seem to be into double layering big style in this issue. Loads of possiable future sewing planned from this issue.)
I had to do some cleavage alterations.Wear a "chicken fillet"
Have had similar health issue to your recent one, 7 years ago now for me.
Keep at it girl, you are doing fantastically well.
I am sure you have helped loads of people some you know and many you will never know or met.
Sorry went a bit OFT there.
Let us see the 112 top tho. Think this might be one of the next ones I was going to muslin.

Ann - you are a life saver! I just used up the last of mine like this that I bought at one of the sewing expos years ago and was wondering where I was going to get more! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I'm off to order some for myself!
I'm glad I took some time to look off from the machine and read this post. Today I was thinking of asking someone in NYC to get me more tracing paper, and here you post a site where I could order some, and by the yard!! Thank you, thank you and thank you again!!!
I'm about to let my subscription lapse, too. Besides the ridiculously eye-straining swtich to a single pattern sheet, they still only give me one petite pattern (and it's usually the same jacked morphed in different ways), and instead they've added more patterns for tall people. I wrote to them after they canceled the Burda Petite magazine and they promised but did not deliver more patterns.
That pattern sheet looks like an interchange on Route 95 in Northern Virginia. I wonder if the same guy designed them both. Denise.
I buy my tracing paper @ Jerry's in Providence - next time I'm looking for the yellow!
:)S
I love this paper from Dick Blick. Gosh I have gone through quite q bite of it lately as I am self drafting!
The thing I really love about this paper is that (1) pencil lines erase clean off and (2) Sharpie does not bleed through! <3 <3 <3
I've been using examining table paper for years but, as my eyes mature, it's getting really hard to see! Next time I'm in Pearls I will see if they have this.
