Here's one that is very useful for summer sewing. When making certain garments, like camisoles, I use fold-over elastic to bind the raw edges. This gives a bulk-free finish that looks very RTW. My Father-in-Law passed away yesterday. He had been sick for a number of years with a disease called amyloidosis. But it was still a shock to lose him. Alan was a wonderful, gentle man and a fantastic father. It was really saddening to see how the disease decimated him physically. He retained his mental faculties, and his sense of optimism and humor, until the very end. We'll sorely miss him.

I am between projects right now. Susan Khalje is coming to town to teach her Couture Sewing Class next week at my studio, so I think I'll revive the skirt to go with my bustier and try to work on that while she's here. I pulled the Tracy Reese pattern out and started analyzing it. I may rethink it now. There are 16 pattern pieces for the main dress. Okay, I don't normally root for other teams than the Patriots, but who could not root for New Orleans? I think even Archie Manning had to root for his old team. The Saints? They came marching in! Good for them and I hope my boys the Pats get to meet up wtih them soon. New Orleans? Love you and I am so glad you won.

How utterly fabulous/tacky is this? Just in time for Superbowl Sunday (yawn, go Saints!), my DFIL sent us this serving tray. DH remembers it from his childhood days, so it's 70s vintage. To me, this is screaming for Chex Mix. Gigi and Phyllis suggested Knorr's onion dip and Bugles. Oh man, I can feel my blood pressure rising and my arteries hardening already. Happy munching!
