First off, I can't tell you how painful today is in Patriot Nation. No one wants to see any player get hurt, but waiting to hear how serious Brady's injury is - well, everyone is holding their collective breaths. I believe that Pollard was not trying to make a dirty hit on Brady. But face it. Since mid-last year, everyone, and I mean everyone on the opposing teams have been trying to figure out how to get past the offensive line and bring him down in a season ending, if not Joe Theismann-esque injury (don't click on the link if you're squeamish). Pollard managed to do it, and now we all have to wait to see what happens. Kudos to Cassell and the Pats' defense for holding off Huard and the Chiefs.
My darlings Project Rungay Boys, Tom and Lorenzo, interviewed Emmett, my brother by another mother today. It's a great read. Emmett is one of my favorite people in the world. If you're in NoLita, definitely stop by his store. He makes Gorgeous Things, and I know from Gorgeous Things.
In fun family news, DS the Younger (he of the Gloucester boulder stitches) got his braces off this morning. Funny story. When his orthodontist said to him, "You look like a million bucks, kiddo!" he responded, with no prompting from me, "Well, they cost that much." Dr. V and I both cracked up.
Sewing-wise, I have the Burda dress traced off and ready to cut. I think I'm also going to do a little fun-with-tricot tutorial (it's not just for lining anymore). Stay tuned for that.
Happy sewing

Nice interview with Emmett.
I look forword to the Tricot tutorial. For me there is some confusion as to what exactly is tricot. I needed some for a knit dress I made a couple months ago and I thought it was slip-type material. I couldn't find any at the store so I ended up using mesh. I am making the dress again but using self fabric to line the top of the dress and seam binding to stabilize the neckline.
Still can't watch the Theismann tape as LT (Lawrence Taylor to us oldies) literally snapped his leg in half. Brady's injury doesn't appear to be quite that serious, and if Tony Allen (Celtics) can recover from what appears to be the same injury to return to the basketball court, Brady should be okay in time.
If you children play sports, make sure that they understand that with a knee injury never, ever fold the leg like Brady did. If you notice on the tape the first thing the trainers did was straighten the leg out because folding it at the knee hyperextends the knee and can cause further injury. Just saying -- having suffered torn miniscus in both knees.
Love the Burda dress.

The only sports injury I can think of that might actually be worse than Joe Theisman’s would be Stan Fox’s 1995 Indy 500 crash *shudder*
Ah Phyllis, I sense a sister motorsports fan. In the 40 some odd years I have been an open wheel motorsports fan, I have seen so many leg and feet injuries but few as graphic as Stan Fox's.
Luckily football fans will never witness a Zanardi-type injury, although the Theismann injury sounds close.
Ann.- thanks for Emmett Link. very interesting. hugs, Paco
