While I'm finishing the bustier - if all goes as planned (hah!) I'll get it done later this week or weekend - here's a little tip for folks who may be new to working with knits. It's also a reminder to those of us like me who have those "doh" moments when we start sewing before the first cup of coffee kicks in (yes, voice of experience speaking here).
Knit fabrics have a right side (or "face") and a wrong side. Even those that look like they don't, like solid rayon jerseys before I put my glasses on in the morning. To find the right side of your fabric, simply give a good tug at the top along the crosswise grain. The fabric will roll towards the right side. It's an easy and quick way to make sure your knits look the way you want them.
Happy sewing!

Great tip, thank you! I will always check now before I cut :-) I was told once that if a selvedge has little holes from when it was on the machines, that the way the fabric round the holes stands up denotes the right or wrong side - I can't remember which side it should be but wondered if you had heard of this? If ever I am not too sure I choose the side I like best and just make sure to be consistent Lol!
You're absoloutly right, My mom taught me this trick years ago. I use it quite often.
Nice little tip! Thanks!
Neat. Less squinting at the weave for me.
But then don't forget to mark the wrong side! Invariably I will sew something inside out otherwise. Two right arms are a common affliction in my sewing room!
FYI: Also, you can tell the right side of the fabric by looking at the selvage and finding the side with the ROUGH holes.(Mark this side with a saftey pin BEFORE you wash, since the roughness may disappear.)
